NP, (ca. 1959 - 1980). Tibetan thangka (painted scroll), approx. 21 3/4 x 16 inches, hand painted on cloth, depicting the Mahayana Buddhist deity Vajrapani in his wrathful role as a dharmapala (protector or defender of the dharma). Late twentieth century - painted by Tibetan refugees in Nepal ca. 1959 - 1980. From a private collection. Some light wear from being rolled, edges a little frayed, thumb-print sized lightly discolored patches in corners caused by show-through from glue on back where it was previously glued to a board or wall. Otherwise VG condition and guaranteed at least 40 years old. Item #61059
