Item #61420 The Magic of Aleister Crowley. John SYMONDS, Aleister Crowley: related works.

The Magic of Aleister Crowley.

London: Frederick Muller Ltd., 1958. First edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 210pp. Black cloth with gilt titling to spine, illustrations. The companion volume to John Symond's biography of Crowley, 'The Great Beast.' Ostensibly this volume concentrated more on Crowley's magical philosophy than the earlier work, but in practice it was just an extension of the biography. It includes a chapter largely devoted to Crowley's Australian disciple Frank Bennett, that is the first substantial study of 'Frater Progradior.' Corners and spine ends bruised, fore-edge a bit darkened and thumbed. Pages toned, as common with this volume, edges a little dusty, otherwise a lovely clean, sharp near-Fine copy in near-Fine dust jacket (Dust jacket has a hint of rubbing to the edges and is price-clipped; now protected by a removable mylar sleeve).
