New Yorker, John Bovee Dods (1795–1872) was a spiritualist, mesmerist, and early psychologist who wrote a number of books including: "Twenty-Four Short Sermons on the Doctrine of Universal Salvation" (1832), "Thirty Sermons" (1840), "Six Lectures on the Philosophy of Mesmerism" (1849), "Immortality Triumphant" (1852), and " Spirit Manifestations Examined and Explained" (1854) and this title which was first published in 1851 and is comprised of 12 lectures which provide an overview of the science of "Electrical Psychology - the philosophy of disease - the connecting link between mind and matter. Corners and spine ends lightly bumped and chafed with some minor loss at spine ends, page edges and endpapers darkened, owner's names and dates on front blank, pages toned with a few creased corners and a very few penned "check" marks outside text - otherwise a tight, clean VG copy.
