The author, Murry Hope (1929 – 2012) was an English write occultist, and Wiccan priestess who wrote variously on magick, psychology, witchcraft, etc. with her works including Practical Egyptian Magic, The Way of Cartouche, Practical Techniques of Psychic Self-Defense, Practical Greek Magic; Practical Celtic Magic; etc. etc. In this largely psychological study she looks at the rituals of daily life: "from the purely practical routines of home life, to the social, political, religious and magical observances" ... and "examines the birth, growth, history and heritage of the rite, and its influence on cultural development over the centuries".
