Original brown cloth decorated in blind, gilt titling to spine. First published in 1849, this is a reprint of the "greatly enlarged" Second edition (1956) of this work by Albert Gallatin Mackey (1807 – 1881), an American doctor and author, best known for his writing many books and articles about freemasonry, particularly the Masonic Landmarks. Cloth a bit rubbed and slightly spot faded, corners and spine ends bruised and chafed, page edges and endpapers lightly foxed. Neat old ink number on front blank. Still bright and fresh internally, unmarked. Overall a tight, clean VG+ copy of a scarce edition. Item #61732
