London: Mandrake Press, 1929. First edition. Two large printed sheets, folded once, to make an 8 page, quarto (7.25" x 10.25") stapled booklet. Dated "Autumn 1929" the prospectus announces the intended publication of the six volumes of "The Confessions of Aleister Crowley," and appears to be printed on the same "Japon" paper as the first two volumes of "The Confessions" themselves. Contents: p.(1), (title page & top wrapper) announces the publication of the book and has a reproduction of a small portrait of Crowley by Augustus John, p.( 2). Contains a short essay "Is Aleister Crowley a Saint?" by his friend and publisher P. R. Stephensen. p. (3) b&w photographic portrait of Crowley in his robes, p. (4) Outlines contents of Vols. I & II of "The Confessions", p. (5) b& w photographs, pp. (6 - 7) Contents of Vols. III to VI of "The Confessions". Also on page 7 is a color reproduction of Crowley's painting "Four Red Monks Carrying a Black Goat Across the Snow to Nowhere p. (8) (back wrapper) carries a list of Crowley's publications. As the booklet testifies, Crowley originally planned to publish his autobiography in six large volumes, however only two were published before internal intrigue and the Great Depression brought about the closure of the Mandrake Press (a single volume abridgment of the six volumes was eventually published by John Symonds and Kenneth Grant). A scarce piece of ephemera. Wrappers a little darkened and with a few small marks, very light, small, tea (?) spot in bottom corner, light short crease to front wrapper. Slight rust-marks from the staples, . Overall a clean VG + example of a scarce item. Item #61765
