NP: Privately Printed for C. F. Russell, 1970 - 1974. Vol. 1, 2nd Edition Revised and Enlarged, other Vols. First Editions. Hardcovers. 4 Volume Set. Quartos. (11ins x 9ins) Decorated paper covered boards. Vol. I (1970) (iv) + vi + 162pp, Vol. II, (1970) approx. 104pp: numbered xv - xx + 162 - 261), Vol. III (1972) approx 260pp: (numbered xxi-xxvii + numbered 262 -516). Vol. IV (1974) vi +44pp. (NP) Somewhat eccentric design and production values: the volumes are illustrated with a variety of diagrams, charts, photos etc., thrown together in a bizarre collage, and the work is part autobiography, part mathematical study, part study of Chinese mysticism, etc. etc. C. F. Russell (1897-1987), was for a time a star student of Aleister Crowley's, and went on to found the G.'.B.'.G.'. & the Choronzon Club. During the latter half of his life Russell became increasingly involved with the use of mathematics and geometry as occult and mystical tools, and experimented with the concise expression of these complex formulas through what he referred to as the "Ming dialect" of Chinese. Russell apparently suppressed the First Edition of Vol. I of "Znuz is Znees", which is seldom seen - this set has the Second Edition - as do most. The fourth volume of the set: "Znuz is Znees, Memoirs of a Magician, Pierre Fermat Vindicated" which, as the title suggests, was largely mathematical, was not released until 1982, that is a decade after Vol. III, and it is often not included in set. Vol. I has some short splits in the outer joint / gutter, but the board is still firmly attached. Spine of Vol. II slightly sunfaded. The first three Vols. have an abrasion to the front pastedown from the removal of a bookseller's sticker; the fourth volume has the sticker intact. All four volumes have an absolute minimum of light shelf rubbing and dust. Internally clean and tight, otherwise near-Fine but for the faults described. (no dust jackets, none issued). Item #61774
