The tenth volume in the Echoes from the Gnosis series of eleven volumes edited by Mead and published by the Theosophical Publishing Co. The series of small volumes "was drawn from, or based upon, the mystic, theosophic and gnostic writings of the ancients" so as to make available to a wider audience "some echoes of the mystic experiences and initiatory lore of their spiritual ancestry." A gnostic poem, translated from the old Syriac. Its original title is lost, and Mead renamed it "The Hymn of The Robe of Glory" although it is also known as "The Hymn of the Soul" and "The Song of Deliverance." George Robert Stowe [ G.R.S. ] Mead (1863 - 1933) was an English historian and writer who was a member of the Theosophical Society, as well as the founder of the Quest Society. Faint (tea?) stain to upper board, light bruising and chafing to spine ends and corners, page edges darkened and lightly foxed, initials to front pastedown, a few scattered pencil marks to text (easily erased), a few creased corners. Overall a tight about VG copy. Item #61859
