Oxford, England: Clarendon Press, 1912. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Large octavo, cx + 332pp. Green cloth with gilt title, etc. to spine, appendix & index. An important early translation - long considered the best - of this "banned" book of the Bible by Robert Henry Charles (1855-1931). "The Book of Enoch" describes the fall of a band of angels and progresses through a series of heavenly visions and dreams. It is not included in standard editions of the Bible in English, but has long attracted the attention of mystics and is accepted into the canon of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. Cloth somewhat rubbed & faded overall, all edges and extremities a little bruised and chafed, private library ink stamps on front endpaper, title page and rear endpaper, pages toned and some roughly opened, small split at inner margin of title page, text unmarked. Overall a tight, clean VG copy. (no dust jacket.). Item #61865
