Numbers. Their Occult Power and Mystic Virtues; [ Collectanea Hermetica, Vol. IX ]

London: Theosophical Publishing Society, 1911. Third Edition - Revised. Hardcover. Small octavo. 128pp. Original royal blue cloth, with gilt titling across the front board. The ninth volume of the "Collectanea Hermetica" series, of which Westcott was the series editor, as well as the editor of this particular volume. Westcott's study of the Kabbalah. The book was first published in a larger format in 1890, Westcott then revised and expanded it considerably, and published a second edition as part of the "Collectanea Hermetica" series in 1902. It evidently sold well, as this third edition was issued - still as part of that series - in 1911. According to the Preface to the Third Edition "A few corrections have been made, and interesting notes have been added; many of these have been supplied by my pupils and fellow-students of the Rosicrucian Society." W. Wynn Westcott (1848 – 1925) was of course one of the founders of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Supreme Magus of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (SRIA), and Master of Quatuor Coronati Lodge (the well-known London Masonic Lodge devoted to Masonic research). Boards a little dulled, old bookseller's label on front pastedown (which has left a shadow on the adjacent blank). Still a tight, clean, VG+ copy. . Item #61901
