True Spiritualism: Also a Contradiction of the Work of John E. Roberts, entitled "Spiritualism: or Bible Salvation vs. Modern Spiritualism"

Allentown, PA: Philosophical Publishing Company, 1906. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 190pp.+ 4pp. ads. Original green cloth lettered in gilt on spine & front board. Patterned endpapers. A defence of Spiritualism - or at least a type of Spiritualsim - against the charges levelled against it by a "religious fanatic" named John E. Roberts who had apparently declared it incompatible with Christianity. Clymer apparently first published his refutation as a series of articles in the periodical "Modern Miracle", and then expanded them into book form, this being their scarce first publication thus. Swinburne R. Clymer (1878 - 1966) is of course now well-known as a Rosicrucian author. He had enrolled as a Neophyte in the Temple of The Rosy Cross and Imperial Eulis in 1897, and rose through the ranks, succeeding Edward H. Brown as Supreme Grand Master of Fraternitas Rosae Crucis in 1922. Light bruising to spine ends and corners, faint foxing to page-edges, pages toned. Still a tight, clean & sharp VG+ copy (no jacket - likely none issued). Item #62045
