The first US edition of this translation into English of the last, and arguably most significant, work by Gustave Geley (1865-1924), medical doctor, psychical researcher and Director of the Institut Metapsychique International from 1919 to 1924. The book is based chiefly on his experiences with 'Eva C.' and is divided into two main sections, one on Clairvoyance and one on Ectoplasmic Forms. One of the last great works on Spiritualism, Seances, Mediumship, etc., generously illustrated with spirit photographs etc. and with interesting sub-chapters on Fraudulent Practices in Seances, Pseudo-Mediums etc. Board rubbed and somewhat discolored, extreme bottom corner of front board chipped (nibbled?) away, light fraying to cloth at head and tail of spine. Small splits at top of front and rear endpaper hinges, short tear to rear endpaper, small owner's label on front free endpaper, occasional heavy foxing and browning to plates as well as text, a little shaken.
