The Principles of Nature, Her Divine Revelations, and A Voice to Mankind ... in Three Parts.

Boston: William White & Company, 1869. Thirty-first Edition. Hardcover. Large thick octavo. xxii (ii) + 786pp. Original black cloth lettered in gilt on spine. B/w frontis. portrait. Andrew Jackson Davis (1826 - 1910), was a renowned American spiritualist and prophet, who was immensely influential in the history of Spiritualism, particularly with regard to the merging of psychically obtained revelations with religious principles, and his thoughts on after-death realms, which were adopted by many later Spiritualists. For a period of 15 months, commencing in 1846 - he dictated his first book: "The Principles of Nature, Her Divine Revelations, and A Voice to Mankind" based on revelations from a higher state. He went on to write over 30 books. Cloth a bit rubbed overall with some chipping and loss at corners, spine ends and edges and small split at top of front (cloth) hinge. Front free endpaper (first blank) excised, front pastedown has private library bookplate (no other library markings) and owner's name and details. Both endpapers scarred, probably from the removal of a protective paper cover that had been heavily taped to them. Tears to rear free endpaper. Offsetting from the frontispiece to the title page despite the tissue guard, ink spot to fore-ege of last forty leaves (not really bleeding into text). Not pretty, but still a solid & complete and serviceable Good + copy. Large heavy book, additional shipping may apply. Was $90.00. Item #62071
