London: James Burns, 1880. First Edition. Hardcover, Folio. 680pp. Contemporary grey pebbled binder's cloth with gilt titling and rules to spine. Black and white illustrations. A substantial run of 42 consecutive issues (of a possible 51) of Vol. XI of "The Medium and Daybreak." Founded by James Burns (1833-1894) in April 1870 by merging two existing small Spiritualist newspapers, "The Medium and Daybreak" grew to become the most widely-distributed Spiritualist newspapers in the United Kingdom. It covered all aspects of the Spiritualist movement, from lectures, publications, news, events, etc. as well as articles and letters by various Spiritualist luminaries and others and advertisements. A wonderful resource. Corners bumped, and a few snags, short tears, and lightly frayed spots to the cloth. Still the binding is strong and serviceable. Pencil notes on verso of front blank. Light foxing to edges. Thin newsprint type paper has occasional small chips and tears, but still a solid, clean, better than VG copy. Item #62111
