Founded by James Burns (1833-1894) in April 1870 by merging two existing small Spiritualist newspapers, "The Medium and Daybreak" grew to become the most widely-distributed Spiritualist newspapers in the United Kingdom. It covered all aspects of the Spiritualist movement, from lectures, publications, news, events, etc. as well as articles and letters by various Spiritualist luminaries and others and advertisements. This is a mixed volume, comprising a total of 73 issues from Volumes XIII, XIV and XVI. Vol. XIII - 15 issues. No. 646, August 18, 1882 - No. 665, Dec. 29, 1882 (lacking 4 issues: Nos. 648, 651, 654, 664); Vol. XIV - 38 issues. No. 666, Jan. 5, 1883 - No. 717, Dec. 28, 1883 (lacking 13 issues, Nos. 673, 674, 676, 677, 678, 687, 690, 692, 693, 701, 704, 705, 708); Vol. XVI - 20 issues. No. 801, Aug. 7 1885, - No. 821, Dec. 25, 1885 (inclusive). A wonderful resource. Modern binding in near-Fine condition. Pencil notes on verso of front blank. Thin newsprint type paper has occasional small chips and tears, a few old repairs, but still overall solid, clean, and better than VG.
