London: James Burns, 1890. First Edition. Hardcover, Folio. vi + 826pp. Contemporary grey pebbled binder's cloth with gilt titling and rules to spine. Black and white illustrations. Index at front. Founded by James Burns (1833-1894) in April 1870 by merging two existing small Spiritualist newspapers, "The Medium and Daybreak" grew to become the most widely-distributed Spiritualist newspapers in the United Kingdom. It covered all aspects of the Spiritualist movement, from lectures, publications, news, events, etc. as well as articles and letters by various Spiritualist luminaries and others and advertisements. This bound volume comprises the full 51 issues of Vol XXI (No. 1031, January 3, 1890 - No. 1082, Dec. 26, 1890). A wonderful resource. Binding worn and marked with small "cup ring" to front board. Significant splits to top and bottom of front and rear cloth hinges. As a consquence the front board is a little wobbly, although still firmly attached. Inner front hinge cracked, front free endpaper creased and with a long tear. The thin newsprint type paper has occasional small chips and tears and some darkening, so despite that shabby binding it is internally tight and well preserved. Please note this is a large heavy volume which will require additional shipping. Item #62116
