Manly Palmer Hall (1901 - 1990), was a Canadian-born occultist, mystic and author best known for his "The Secret Teaching of All Ages." Hall gathered together a world renowned collection of books and manuscripts on alchemy, mysticism, the occult, etc. which became part of the library of an organisation the Philosophical Research Society which he founded in 1934. Hall himself wrote over a hundred books and pamphlets on the esoteric subjects. "Initiates of the Flame" is a work on "mystical symbolism" that he described as his "first literary effort." He describes it as "an essay on the mystery of fire" touching upon its role in initiation, alchemy, ancient Egyptian initiates, Rosicrucianism, the Knights of the Grail, etc. Light rubbing to boards, spine ends and corners a bit chafed with some light fraying, page edges darkened and dusty, pages toned with some scattered browning, some glue offset at inner margins.
