In his short Introduction to the work, the editor Mike Magee writes of possible connections between the religion of the Yezidis and the Law of Thelema, noting that Crowley came to identify Aiwass with the Yezidi deity Shaitan. Michael Magee (b. 1949) is an English journalist and writer on occult subjects, known as co-founder of the journals Azoth and Sothis, who was closely linked with Kenneth Grant and later founded the "Arcane Magical Order of the Knights of Shambhala" (AMOOKOS).
