The first edition of this translation of "The Gathas" - the only authentic documents on the life and teachings of Zarathrushtra [Zoroaster] with Introduction, notes and glossary which offer the reader a better understanding of the translation. This edition clearly a collaboration between George Allen and Unwin of London and MacMillan Publishing, New York, as it bears the imprint of the latter on the title page, but the book spine and dust jacket spine have the imprint of former. There is also a MacMillan Distribution sticker on front panel. Very light shelf rubbing, spine ends and corners lightly bruised, page edges darkened, bookplate on front pastedown and owners card pocket on rear pastedown, pages toned, unmarked. Overall a tight, clean VG copy in near VG dust jacket (Dust jacket is a bit rubbed, darkened and discoloured, all edges lightly rubbed and creased, not clipped). Item #62565
