Henry Addington Bayley Bruce (1874 - 1959), was an American journalist and psychical researcher with an interest in psychology. In this, his second book, Addington recounts and examines these well known stories relating to ghost and the supernatural: The Devils of Loudun, The Drummer of Tedworth, The Haunting of the Wesleys, The Visions of Emanuel Swedenborg, The Cock Lane Ghost, The Ghost Seen by Lord Brougham, The Seeress of Prevorst, The Mysterious Mr. Home, The Watseka Wonder, A Medieval Ghost Hunter, and Ghost Hunters of Yesterday and To-Day. In most cases he seems to conclude that they are best explained by fraud or psychological factors such as hallucination or suggestion. Cloth a bit rubbed and slightly darkened, spine a bit bruised and chafed at ends, page edges darkened, pages toned. Overall a tight, clean VG+ copy (no dust jacket). Item #62618
