Bibliography & index, 2 page Errata bound in at rear. The author, Josephine Ransom (1879-1960), was a leading member of the Theosophical Society and Theosophical historian, who lectured, edited numerous journals, and held various high offices in the Society: notably General Secretary of the Australian Section, 1924-5; South African Section, 1926-7; and English Section 1933-6. She was nominated as Vice-President of the Adyar Theosophical Society in 1960, but died as the result of an accident before she could formally take office. Her "Short History" remains a standard source-work and the first edition remains scarce. Cloth a bit rubbed overall, spine darkened and slightly canted, spine ends and corners bruised and chafed with several tiny tears at spine ends, page edges darkened, owner's name in pencil on front blank, a small amount of light unobtrusive underlining and notes (mostly in pencil) margin notes on index pages. Still a solid and serviceable about Good working copy. Item #62624
