Frontis portrait, 7 plates, appendix and index. Top edge gilt. Arguably the scarcest of the Dee biographies in First Edition. Perhaps because it was written at a time when Dee's reputation was still rather tarnished, it tends to concentrate heavily on his worldly activities at the expense of his esoteric pursuits, but is still a worthwhile and pioneering work. Corners and spine ends bumped and rubbed, corners well chafed with some light fraying, light rubbing to boards, page edges a darkened and foxed, half title page detached at lower margin, first and last leaves foxed with some scattered foxing throughout, a few scattered spots of browning, but text unmarked. Overall a tight, clean VG copy (no dust jacket). Item #62671
