Octavo. xviii & 174pp. Original mahogany leather binding with gilt titles to spine and front board, five raised bands, marbled endpapers. The total printing of this volume was limited to 1000 numbered copies, the great majority of which were bound in cloth, a smaller number bound in full black leather, and an even smaller number bound thus in brown leather with slipcase - by Ars Obsura bindery of Seattle. The list of "Subcriber's" at rear includes 31 subscribers, so presumably the edition was limited to 31 copies -or thereabouts. "The Picatrix, or Ghayat Al-Hakim as it is titled in Arabic ... has long been regarded as source material in the Hermetic tradition. The text of this Medieval work consists of four books covering the art and practice of Astrological, Talismanic, and Astral Magic. ... Brought out of the obscurity of the Middle East it passed through the hands of many prominent figues throughout the history of Hermetic thought..Marsilio Ficinoo, Pico della Mirandola, Peter of Abano, and Henry Cornelius Agrippa were among them. ...
