Founded by James Burns (1833-1894) in April 1870 by merging two existing small Spiritualist newspapers, "The Medium and Daybreak" grew to become the most widely-distributed Spiritualist newspaper in the United Kingdom. It covered all aspects of the Spiritualist movement, from lectures, publications, news, events, etc. as well as articles and letters by various Spiritualist luminaries and others and advertisements. This bound volume comprises the full 52 issues of XXV (No. 1240, January 5, 1894 - No. 1239, Dec. 29, 1894), PLUS double number Memorial issue which includes a 12 page biographical sketch on the life and work of Editor James Burns who died on December 30th, 1894 AND a single issue of the magazine No. 1303, Vol. XXVI, March 22, 1895. A wonderful resource. From the collection of Dr. M. H. Coleman, with his ex-libris blind seal on front endpaper. Spine darkened and rubbed, boards lightly rubbed with some light flecking, light bruising and chafing to spine ends and corners. Otherwise the text is fresh and clean, firmly bound, and in Very Good condition for the thin newsprint type paper upon which it is printed.
