London: James Burns, 1888. First Edition. Hardcover. Folio. vi + 826pp. Contemporary blue binder's cloth with gilt titling to spine. Black and white illustrations. Index at front. Founded by James Burns (1833-1894) in April 1870 by merging two existing small Spiritualist newspapers, "The Medium and Daybreak" grew to become the most widely-distributed Spiritualist newspaper in the United Kingdom. It covered all aspects of the Spiritualist movement, from lectures, publications, news, events, etc. as well as articles and letters by various Spiritualist luminaries and others and advertisements. This bound volume comprises the full 52 issues of Vol XX (No. 979, January 4, 1888 - No. 1030, Dec. 27, 1888). A wonderful resource. From the collection of Dr. M. H. Coleman, although not marked as such. Cloth a bit rubbed with a light damp mark at upper edge of rear board, spine ends & corners bumped and chafed, small closed split at lower front gutter, edges darkened, pages toned with some scattered browning and staining, a few closed tears to page edges (some are neatly repaired), a few owner's notes in margins, one advert page roughtly torn out) - but still the text is clean and legible, bound solidly, and in overall near Very Good condition for its age and the thin newsprint type paper upon which it is printed. Please note this is a large heavy volume which will require additional shipping. Item #63018
