Springtime Two: an Anthology of Current Trends in Literature.

London: Peter Owen, 1958. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 126pp. Yellow textured papered boards lettered in green on spine. Effectively a sampler of contemporary short fiction and poetry collected by avant-garde publisher Peter Owen. Included are extracts from Ithell Colquhoun's then-unpublished occult novel "Goose of Hermogenes" and three translations and two of her original poems, including her "Elegy on the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn." Ithell Colquhoun (1906 - 1988), author, playwright, poet and painter (one of the British group of Surrealists). She had a profound interest in the occult, particularly the Golden Dawn, and was for a time a member of the Nu Isis Lodge of Kenneth Grant's O.T.O. As an author she is best known for her biography of Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers, 'Sword of Wisdom,' although she also published an esoterically themed novel, The Goose of Hermogenes. Other contributors include Anna Kavan, William Carlos Williams, Muriel Spark, and Stevie Smith. Foot of spine lightly bumped, heavy erasure on front free endpaper, pages uniformly toned. Else a solid, clean VG+ copy in VG+ dust jacket (dust jacket a little rubbed and darkened, spine and margins of panels a little faded, not clipped, now protected by removeable mylar sleeve).
