Reprint of the fourth revised edition. Manly Palmer Hall (1901 - 1990), was a Canadian-born occultist, mystic and author best known for his "The Secret Teaching of All Ages." Hall gathered together a world renowned collection of books and manuscripts on alchemy, mysticism, the occult, etc. which became part of the library of an organisation the Philosophical Research Society which he founded in 1934. This work focuses on the Egyptian mysteries, and includes a restoration of the "Crata Repoa Rite" which according to Hall "sets forth the principal elements of initiatory drama." "That the gods of Egypt were elements of a profound magical system and possessed a significance far different from that advanced by modern Egyptologists is certain. The various deities of the Nile valley were elements of an elaborate magical metaphysical system, a kind of ceremonial Cabbala." Despite the title the book has little to do with Freemasonry as such - Hall merely uses it as it as a term for an initiatory drama. Top edge darkened and dusty - else a sharp, clean near-Fine copy in VG+ dust jacket (Dust jacket is lightly rubbed and creased at edges, bookshop price sticker on inner front flap, not clipped, now protected by removeable mylar sleeve).
