Item #63205 The Golden Fleece, a Book of Jewish Cabalism. Thomas Frederick PAGE.
The Golden Fleece, a Book of Jewish Cabalism.

The Golden Fleece, a Book of Jewish Cabalism.

Laconia, New Hampshire: Published by the author, 1888. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 156pp. Original brown cloth with gilt illustration & titling and black rules to upper board, rear board illustrated and ruled in blind, gilt rules and titling to spine, b&w frontispiece. Numerous charts and diagrams. A scarce and unusual study. An unconventional and somewhat quirky work on the Cabala. In the author's Preface he notes: "When language is analyzed, a deeper meaning is seen, which leads to a higher knowledge of the law of God, and of his dealing with man in that law. Beneath the face of language lays the Hebraic law, always and forever the same. All names in pagan mythology are woven together in this work, and herein is found the method of reading the same according to the Jews of antiquity; also the way of approaching the interpretation of sculpture as seen in ruins and remnants of past ages." Little is know of Page, other than that he lived in Laconia, New Hampshire, and was a fervent student of the occult who apparently wrote voluminously on the subject, although little of his work, apart from this and one other volume, appears to have been published. Cloth lightly rubbed with one small mark on the front cover, and a light marks from handling. Spine ends bruised and lightly chafed, pages toned, free of any previous owner marks. A tight & bright, VG+ copy of a scarce work. Item #63205
