A study of Jesus (under the Hebrew name Jehoshua) which views him not from the usual Christian perspective, but instead as a "divinely inspired man", a great adept and initiate "into the ancient Egyptian mysteries" who "became a prophet and a seer." The author Franz Hartmann (1838 - 1912) the Bavarian-American writer, physician, theosophist, occultist, geomancer, astrologer, who was part of the late nineteenth century German esoteric milieu that gave birth to organizations like the O.T.O. Hartmann suggested that true magic - as he saw it - did not involve specific ritual or ceremonial, but rather a development of individual spiritual powers of the type that he saw evidenced in the story of Jehoshua. Cloth a bit rubbed at all edges and extremities, corners and spine ends bumped and a bit chafed with some light fraying to lower spine, a few light bumps to edges, page edges darkened, endpapers unevenly browned, bookplate on reverse of front blank, minor pencil marks outside text on less than a dozen pages -else internally clean. Overall a tight, VG copy (no dust jacket). Item #63279
