The Royal Winged Son of Stonehenge and Avebury ( Kimmerian Revelations - The Mabyn of the Mabynogion ).

Pontypridd / London: Glamorgan Free Press / Whittaker & Co, ND [ 1900 ]. First edition. Hardcover. Octavo. xiv, viii + 308pp. Red cloth lettered in gilt on spine & front board. B/w frontis. & illustrations, corrections page, speckled edges. A curious, some would say, eccentric, work on Druidism by the Welsh antiquary and author Morien Owen Morgan (ca. 1836 – 1921) who is most widely remembered for his study "The Light of Britannia." Morgan, who adopted the bardic name Morien, was was heavily influenced by the writings of both Iolo Morganwg and his student Myfyr Morganwg, who succeeded the controversial figure Taliesin ab Iolo as Archdruid. In "The Royal Winged Son of Stonehenge and Avebury (confusingly with the cover-title "Kimmerian Revelations - The Mabyn of the Mabynogion") Morgan explored his ideas about the Chaldean origins of the Welsh people, ancient mythologies and religions and their alleged relationship with Druidry, etc. etc. Cloth a bit rubbed and darkened overall with a few light spots and some rippling to cloth on rear board, corners bumped and chafed, spine edges heavily rubbed, spine darkened and spine ends bruised and chafed - some minor loss at upper spine and a small chip to cloth at mid-spine, endpapers and pages darkened, endpapers cracked at endpaper gutters but hinges solid, pages toned. A few neat inked corrections - possibly authorial. Otherwise a tight, near VG copy (no dust jacket issued). Item #63281
