Item #63439 The Book of the Law. Liber AL vel Legis Sub Figura CCXX. Aleister CROWLEY.

The Book of the Law. Liber AL vel Legis Sub Figura CCXX.

Sydney, Australia: Ordo Templi Orientis, ND [2003?]. First edition thus. Hardcover. Small octavo (5.5 x 4 inches) (132pp.). Full red faux leather, with gilt titling to upper board and spine. The first "Australian Grand Lodge" edition of "The Book of the Law." The book was primarily intended for distribution to O.T.O. members and includes a section at the rear in which they could record their progress in the Order. The print files for this edition were drawn from the masters of the US Grand Lodge edition, as prepared by John Crow. The front cover has "LIBER / AL VEL / LEGIS / SUB FIGURA / CCXX / AS DELIVERED BY / XCIII=418 / to / DCLXVI" stamped in gilt within the decorative Egyptian border. The title "THE BOOK OF THE LAW" is lettered down the spine. On the verso of the half-title is printed: [O.T.O. dove and chalice lamen] / ORDO TEMPLI ORIENTIS / GRAND LODGE OF AUSTRALIA / Presented to: .... / In the Valley of: ... Date: .... The title page has simply THE BOOK / OF THE LAW / [at foot of page] "ORDO TEMPLI ORIENTIS, AUSTRALIA" A second title page reproduces the design and titling on the front cover, and has the A.: A.: seal and "A.: A.: / Publication in Class A" beneath it. There follows the typeset text of "The Book of the Law" (Liber CCXX), the Tunis Comment, a decorative title page for the manuscript (Liber XXXI) and a photographic reproduction of the manuscript. Three leaves at the rear: the first is blank save for "M.: M.: M.: Advancement Record" on the recto, the second is blank save for "E.G.C. Record" on the recto, and the third has "Ordo Templi Orientis / P.O. Box 2093 / Strawberry Hills NSW 2012 / WC1N 3XX / [at foot of page] Layout & design by Brother John L. Crow" The texts are unusual in that they were deliberately unpaginated, instead having the Chapter number in the outer bottom margin of each page. The reproduction of Liber XXXI is from the same images used in the Second Revised Edition (1997) of "Magick Liber ABA" as is the text of Liber CCXX, which was corrected by Hymenaeus Beta. The presentation details on the verso of the half-title have been made out to an Australian Lodge member. Fine, unissued condition. Item #63439
