Originally bound in wrappers, this copy has been privately bound in contemporary half leather over cloth boards, gilt titling to leather spine label. Appendixes, index. Extensive b&w illustrations: 23 plates & 374 line drawings / engravings in text. A scarce offprint of Wilson's extensive study of the origin and migration of the symbol of the swastika, excerpted from "The Report of the U. S. National Museum for 1894". The author, Dr. Thomas Wilson (1832 - 1902) was an archaeologist and anthropologist, vice-president of the Anthropological Society of Washington, Curator of Prehistoric Archeology in the National Museum, etc. etc. Leather a bit rubbed, edges and points chafed, corners bruised, light overall rubbing to boards, bookplate on the front pastedown, pages toned. Still an attractively bound, solid, clean VG+ copy. Scarce. Item #63487
