Reginald Horace Blyth (1898 – 1964) was an English author, poet and student of Zen Buddhism under D. T. Suzuki. Blyth is best known for his writings on Zen, this being the third volume in the "Zen and Zen Classics" series, a series on various aspects of Zen, each volume of which was published separately as a stand-alone title. Chapter headings: The disciples of Tozan; Nangaku and Baso; Nansen and Joshu; Hyakujo and his disciples; Obaku and his disciples. Obaku's The Transmission of Mind; Rinzai and his disciples. Very light shelf rubbing to edges and points, bookplate on front pastedown and inkstamp on front blank, booksellers label rear pastedown, pages toned but unmarked, a few creased page corners. Overall a tight, clean VG+ copy in VG dust jacket (Dust jacket a bit darkened with some discolouration, all edges lightly chafed, creased and clipped, not price clipped). Item #63499
