Large octavo. xiv + 384pp. Original quarter brown cloth with matching papered boards, gilt titling within gilt borders on upper cover and spine. Frontispiece with tissue guard, b&w illustrations. Memories of life in pre-First World War England, France and Italy. Includes an interesting anecdote about Aleister Crowley (disguised by the pseudonym "Mahatma " ) in which Crowley recounts communicating with Oscar Wilde on some different plane. Ex-library copy with some markings: bookplate on front pastedown, blind seal on title page, call nos. to spine, card pocket etc. rear pastedown and eps. Spine ends and corners bumped & chafed, spine darkened, boards lightly rubbed with a few light marks, front endpapers split at inner hinge - hinge a bit wobbly but holding well, corners well chafed, text pages lightly browned but clean & unmarked. Overall a well-used but still quite readable Good copy. Item #63669
