London: Martin Secker, 1922. First UK Edition. Hardcover. Small octavo. 230pp. Original olive cloth with gilt titling to spine. Written in 1915, but not published until 1922, this is the first UK trade edition of Machen's autobiographical volume. The first US trade edition was not published until the following year. Cloth a bit darkened and rubbed overall, spine quite darkened, gilt lettering to spine dulled, spine ends and corners lightly bruised and chafed, endpapers unevenly browned, pages toned but unmarked. Overall a tight, clean better than VG copy (no dust jacket). Item #63720
