Item #63755 The Diaries of John Dee. John DEE, Edward Fenton.

The Diaries of John Dee.

Oxfordshire, England: Day Books, 1998. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Octavo. 370pp. Original rust cloth with gilt title etc to spine, biblio and index. Alchemist, astrologer, mystic and mathemetician, John Dee was one of the most brilliant and controversial figures of the Elizabethan age. This volume brings together Dee's private journals and spirit diaries into an accurate and readable version, compiled from the original manuscripts in the Bodleian Library and the British Museum. Sadly the author seems to have omitted some of the alchemical material, making the edition somewhat less useful than it might have been. Still an important work and surprisingly scarce. Light bump at head of spine, otherwise a tight, clean Fine copy in Fine dust jacket (jacket has the merest hint of shelf-wear). Item #63755
