Real Magic: An Introductory Treatise on the Basic Principles of Yellow Magic.

New York NY: Coward, McCann & Geoghegan, Inc., 1971. First US Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. xx + 236pp. Two toned cloth with gilt lettering to spine. Glossary, bibliography, reading list. B/w illustrations. The author received 'the world's first Bachelor of Arts degree in Magic and Thaumaturgy' and proudly displayed his Bachelor of Arts diploma with "A major in magic," from the University of California, Berkeley on the rear panel of the dust jacket. Like all Berkeley diplomas of the time, it was "signed" by then Governor Ronald Reagan, and added touch that appealed to Bonewit's sense of humor. Bonewits, who died in 2010 was well known as a life-long pagan activist, he described this book as 'the first truly scientific and interdisciplinary examination of worldwide patterns in occultism.' Spine ends and corners lightly bruised and rubbed, boards lightly faded, page edges darkened, pages toned - but still a tight, unmarked VG+ copy in near VG dust jacket. (Dust jacket chafed, rubbed & lightly chipped at all edges and extremities, not clipped). Item #63766
