Bright blue cloth with gilt lettering to upper board & spine, coloured endpapers patterned in gilt. One of a series of uniform volumes published by The Psychic Research Company of Chicago. The first edition thus of this anonymously published collection of short instructional essays which is described by the publisher as a: "A compilation of new works dealing with the practice of clairvoyance or crystal-gazing, human magnetism, auto-suggestion, concentration and mind reading in its two aspects of muscle reading and true telepathy." Although the volume, and it's sections, are all anonymous, some have suggested it might a least in part be written by William Walker Atkinson, who contributed a number of works to this series and is known to have written many anonymous and pseudonymous pieces. Cloth a little rubbed with some faint spot fading particularly at spine, spine ends and corners lightly bruised, page edges darkened, top edge foxed. Text pages a bit browned but fresh and unmarked. Overall a VG+ copy (no dust jacket -as issued?). Quite scarce in this edition. Item #63776
