Orange cloth with black illustration to upper board, and black titling to spine, patterned endpapers. Thirty-eight (38) illustrations in half-tone [inc. frontis], 2 in color, bibliography and index. "This book is an attempt to unravel some of the puzzles of an old, old civilisation which, save in the case of a small minority has not changed for centuries - to describe the everyday beliefs of the Chinese people and the festivals of their "Moon Calendar" , used as a diary of daily happenings." An interesting account, put together by the authors from their own researches in the field as well as from a wide variety of sometimes-rare textual sources. Light bruising and chafing to spine ends and corners, small dark mark at mid-spine, page edges & endpapers foxed, ink stamped "Printed in China" at lower edge of title page, internally bright and unmarked.
