Volume I: xiv + 190pp; Volume 2: x + 144pp + errata, index (to Vols.I and 2); Volume 3: x + 252pp; Volume 4: viii + 218pp, index (to Vols. 3 & 4). Despite varying publishing dates, all four bound in matching blue cloth with gilt titling to spines, frontis and b&w illustrations in each. The first four volumes of this series which was intended to be published annually, but delays in publishing resulted in some years completely missed. The twelth & final volume was published in 1967. The series mainly focused on Chemistry, but there is some significant alchemical content: these first four volumes include essays such as "The Argument of Morien and Merlin-An English Alchemical Poem" by F. Sherwood Taylor; "Scottish Alchemy in the Seventeenth Century" by John Read ; "Was Newton an Alchemist?" by R. Forbes; "Some Seventeenth Century Chemists and Alchemists of Lorraine" Denis I Duveen and Antoine Willemart ; "Sir Kenelm Digby, Alchemist, Scholar, Courtier, and Man of Adventure" by Wyndham Miles; "The Owl of Heinrich Khunrath-lts Origin and Significance" by Claude K. Cloth a bit darkened and rubbed, light bruising to spine ends and corners, page edges darkened, pages lightly toned with some browning at inner margins, owner's name in pen on front blank - else internally clean & unmarked.
