This copy INSCRIBED by Cheiro on the front blank: "With the author's wish that your Fate may be so happy as you yourself would have it, [SIGNED] 'Cheiro' London, 12th Aug. 1910". Cheiro (William John Warner, 1866 - 1936), was one of the most famous 'public' occultists of the early twentieth century. He wrote numerous books on the subjects in which he specialized: astrology, palmistry (cheiromancy), and numerology, and gave individual readings and lessons, as well as releasing broader, public prophecies. In this detailed work he examines the subject of palmistry, using numerous plates depicting the hands of famous people as examples. White cloth a bit rubbed and darkened overall, a little chafing and scratching to black panels, spine ends bruised and chafed, page fore-edge darkened, rear endpaper cracked at inner hinge but hinge is solid.
