Large octavo, xvi + 136pp. Original black cloth with gilt titling to upper board and spine, diagram, list of musical works. From the jacket: "A unique and deeply personal record of the years 1917-1929 which the distinguished Russian composer, Thomas de Hartmann and his wife spent as pupils of G. I. Gurdjieff. Following him from Petrograd to Paris, over the Caucasus, they endured war and revolution, privation and illness, but they never wavered in their certainty of the irreplaceable value to them of the Gurdjieff teaching." The book itself is a stated First Edition, but the dust jacket has "Second Edition" printed on the front flap (other copies thus have been seen). Spine ends bruised and chafed, corners bumped and a little rubbed. Top edge darkened and foxed, edges darkened, text unmarked. Overall a tight, and unmarked VG copy in VG dust jacket. (Dust jacket panels chafed, spine ends and corners rubbed and chipped, not clipped but original price blacked out. Dust jacket now protected by a removable mylar cover.). Item #63913
