A serious guide for the aspiring magician, that includes exercises in concentration, visualization, ritual, and use of magical instruments - along with accompanying illustrations. The author, Walter Ernest Butler (1898-1978), studied with Dion Fortune and was active in her Fraternity of the Inner Light for nearly twenty years. In later life he became acquainted with Gareth Knight and eventually went on to found his own group, the Servants of the Light, of which he remained the main teacher until not long before his death, at which time the mantle was passed to Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki. Light coloured cloth a bit darkened and discoloured - more so at edges, corners and spine ends are bruised and rubbed, top edge darkened and dusty, fore-edge lightly darkened & foxed, bookplate to front pastedown, Aquarian Book Service ink stamp to front blank, endpapers a bit browned, text pages clean and unmarked. Overall a tight, internally clean VG copy in VG dust jacket. ( Dust jacket lightly rubbed overall, all edges and extremities chafed and creased, tiny chips to spine ends & upper corner, not clipped. Dust jacket is now protected by a removable mylar sleeve). Item #64010
