Original green cloth with gilt lettering to spine and upper cover, b&w frontisportrait of Paracelsus with tissue guard, b&w illustrations. The first edition of this translation of the prophecies of Paracelsus which comprise thirty-two allegorical woodcuts each accompanied by a prognostication, a preface and an elucidation. The prophecies spent centuries in obscurity before being discovered & revived by Eliphas Levi, who wrote the "proem" and one of the Prefaces reprinted in this volume. Cloth lightly rubbed and very slightly darkened with a few faint spots, spine slightly canted and just a bit faded, spine ends and corners lightly bruised and chafed, page edges darkened, pages lightly browned but clean and unmarked. Overall a tight, clean VG+ copy in Fair example of the very scarce dust jacket (Dust jacket is chafed and chipped at all edges and folds, spine darkened, large chip from upper edge of rear panel, ragged - creased closed tear at lower half of rear panel, some tearing at folds, not clipped. Despite wear - still complete - and now in removable protective mylar sleeve). Item #64056
