Ars Philtron. Concerning the Aqueous Cunning Of the Potion And Its Praxis in the Green Arte Magical. 'Compleat Edition'.

Chelmsford, UK & / San Francisco: Xoanon Publishing Ltd., 2001. First Edition. Hardcover. Quarto. 144 pp. Original brown cloth with gilt lettering to spine and gilt solar device on upper board, colour frontispiece. Edition limited to 144 numbered copies. SIGNED by the author by way of an elaborate talismanic sigil on the recto of the rear free endpaper. The frontispiece is one of a series of '24 striking alchemical-sabbatic colour images,' and is 'backed' with one of six different 'prayers to Cain or Lilith as patrons of the Arte of the Philtre,' ( this copy having the "Prayer Unto the Lady of the Mound.") Therefore no two copies have the same frontispiece and 'prayer,' and thus each copy of the book is unique. The author was a friend of the late Andrew Chumbley, as well as a fellow-member of his Cultus Sabbati, from which, in common with the Azoetia, this book draws its inspiration. After Chumbley's untimely death in 2004, Schulke took over as magister of the Cultus Sabbati. Just a just a hint of rubbing to extremities, three leaves have small (1/4 inch) tears at the extreme lower page edge (minimal and not affecting text - clearly a printing flaw), else a tight, clean about-Fine copy of this scarce First Edition. No dust jacket issued. Item #64135
