The scarce First Edition of this unusual volume by Madame Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831-91), co-founder of The Theosophical Society and author of the foundation texts of that society, including the massive "Secret Doctrine" and "Isis Unveiled". In this volume Blavatsky writes of tribes of giants and dwarves, possessed of magic powers, who dwelled in the interior of the "Blue Mountains" (Nilgiri Hills), of Southern India. Cloth lightly rubbed and darkened, light chafing to corners and spine ends, page edges a little darkened & smudged, owner's ink stamp on front pastedown, label of the private Philosophical Research Library of New York & small patch of adhesive (remains from a bookshop sticker no longer present) on first blank, pages toned but clean & unmarked. Overall a tight and unmarked VG+ copy of this uncommon first edition. Item #64200
