A serious exploration of the life of Count Alessandro di Cagliostro (1743 – 1795) the adventurer, Freemason and purveyor of the occult arts, who for a time was a favourite of the European courts, becoming famous for his abilities as a healer, scryer, magician, and, reputedly, alchemist. Francois Dumas is an historian of magic and this book is the "fruit of long years of research among many important and unpublished documents." Spine ends and corners lightly bumped, page edges slightly darkened, pages a bit browned (as always). Overall, a tight & unmarked VG+ copy in VG+ dustjacket.
