An early edition of "The Coming Race" which was first published two years earlier in 1871. The novel drew heavily on Lytton's interest in the occult and contributed to the early growth of science fiction and the Hollow Earth theory. Cloth rubbed, darkened and discolored with some light spots and marks from handling, spine darkened and rubbed, spine ends and corners bruised and heavily chafed with old clear tape "repair" to , page edges darkened and discolored, front endpapers cracked at gutter and hinge slightly loosened but still holding well. Pages browned - more so at margins. Text unmarked. Overall a shabby but serviceable copy of an uncommon edition. As is. Item #64283
