Full deep blue leather with gilt device to upper board and gilt titling to spine, silk moire endpages. This is the deluxe edition, limited to 22 copies bound in full leather, each copy "numbered" with a letter from the Hebrew alphabet, this being copy "Chet" (there were also 120 numbered copies bound in quarter leather and cloth). A translation into English of a rare French work: "Origine de la Forme Des Characteres Alphabetiques De Toute Les Nations" ("Origin of the Hieroglyphical Characters of All Nations") along with facsimiles of the original wrappers and the 36pp of plates / diagrams at the end. The publisher described it as an: "An important early French work on the Tarot Major Arcana attributions and ancient alphabets/star systems in the Occidental and Oriental systems. This rare and obscure work influenced the great French occultist Eliphas Levi and is mentioned in his 'Transcendental Magic'." Now out-of-print in all editions. Appears "as new" thus a tight, clean Fine copy. Item #64350
