Dreams and Their Meanings; With Many Accounts of Experiences Sent by Correspondents and Two Chapters Contributed Mainly from the Journals of the Psychical Research Society on Telepathic and Premonitory Dreams

London: Longsmans, Green, and Co., 1901. First Edition. Hardcover. Large octavo. iv + 320pp + 32pp adverts. Original black cloth with elaborate gilt illustration on upper board and gilt titling to spine and upper board, top edge gilt. An exploration of the literature on dreams - historical and (then) contemporary - and what we might learn about them from it. While broad ranging, the work is unusual in that the chapters on "Telepathic and Dual Personality" and "Premonitory Dreams" are apparently largely drawn from the Journals of the Psychical Research Society. Chapters are, in order: What science has to say about them; Their association with Ideas of Immortality; Divinations from Dreams; Classification of the more frequent dreams; Interpretations; Telepathic and dual personality and Premonitory Dreams. From the collection of Dr. M. H. Coleman, with his ex-libris blind-seal on front blank. Cloth lightly rubbed, light bumping and chafing to corners and spine ends, page edges a bit darkened and foxed, first and last leaves unevenly browned and lightly foxed, pages lightly toned but bright and unmarked. A lovely, clean VG+ copy (no dust jacket). Somewhat scarce. Item #64361
